雅思作文范文篇1

you should spend about 40 minutes on this task.

some people believe that the spread of tv has made families less closer. to what degree do you agree or disagree with this opinion?

you should write at least 250 words. you should use your own ideas of knowledge and experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

as one of the most important inventions of the past century, tv is playing a more and more important role in modern life. however, some people are starting to worry about its negative effects on traditional families. i am convinced that the existence of tv has brought about alienation among family members.

first, watching tv occupies our time to municate with our families. tv provides a ready means of relaxation for people who spend their days doing routine and busy jobs. as soon as tv enters into our home, most of our free time is controlled by it. what is more, the one-eyed monster requires absolute silence and attention. if any member dares to open his mouth, the others order him to shut up immediately. therefore we municate less with our family members.

furthermore, families often quarrel over what programs they should watch. thanks to hardworking tv workers, we enjoy more tv channels and more colorful tv programs. but a question has arisen: it is difficult for families to choose a mon channel because they have different interests. it is inevitable to given rise to quarrel among them.

in addition, poor-quality tv programs can have severe effects on people’s mood and behavior. for instance, a person who watches too many idealized programs may bee unrealistic. in addition, unhealthy programs which contain obscene and violent contents may cause people’s curiosity.

in conclusion, i think that tv indeed has led to alienation among family members. we should be aware about the problem. something should be done as soon as possible to protect the families from the negative effects of television. for example, we should reduce the time spent in front of the little screen and spend more time with our families together. the line chart illustrates how the average heights of people had varied in four developed countries over two centuries from 1775 to 1975. generally, the heights underwent an overall upward trend across all the countries.

initially, americans ranked the top, with an average height of approximately 168 cm which was immediately followed by british (166cm) while people from denmark and france were slightly higher than 160 cm.

over the following seven and a half decades, in spite of some minor ups and downs, the average heights had almost remained unchanged in all the countries except france where people’s height kept rising in the latter half of the period. this exceeded that of the danish in around 1850.

after that, the trend in the usa and the uk showed great similarity though at a slightly different rate. they saw an ongoing rise until 1975, when the height equaled to approximately 180 cm. the danish grew considerably and became the tallest at almost 190 cm, standing in remarkable contrast with french who were merely 173 cm.

in short, while americans and the british were equally high in the end, the gap between danes and frenchmen had widened.

雅思作文范文篇4

some feel that the children of low income families are better equipped to deal with difficulties posed by the “real world” when they grow up and they also believe the privileged children of wealthy families are less fit to deal with these difficulties.the implications and veracity of this argument seem self-evident,but in fact require closer examination.

the popular wisdom is that children of poorer families learn early on the value of a buck ,and are thus naturally better suited to stretching money when times get tough in adulthood. inversely, the children of wealthy families, thoseborn with a silver spoon in their mouths, are believed to be completely ignorant of the tentimes erroneously expecting the same situation in adulthood.they are believed to be prone to overspending and financial irresponsibility. this belief, though logical, overlooks one key point which is,of course, education.

the basis of this argument is,of course, knowing the value of money ,and the idea that children of the poor know this, and those of the wealthy do not.who though,is in a better position to teach their children the value of money, someone skilled in earning and keeping it,the wealthy parent,or someone who can not seem to acquire it,the poor parent? both wealthy and poor children are equally likely to acquire an education in money, whether it is formal,or in the school of hard knocks. conversely, both children are as likely to ignore this education.

a poor child may believe that one can get along,if not as easily, without wealthy.a wealthy child may be well trained by a parent steeped in the knowledge of money management, the key to developing this skill is education.

雅思作文范文篇6

television has had asignificant influence on the culture of many societies.

to what extent do youthink it has positively or negatively affected cultural development? few people in this world are living a life without the accompaniment oftelevision, which then generates tremendous influence on the lifestyle and cultureof society. although there may be some negative impacts, i would claim theeffect of television positive to the development of cultures. tv broadcasting enables the cultures to be spread widely to attract moreattention from the public. released in the programs at various intervals, viadifferent tv channels, information about certain culture is known to the massand thus its influence is strengthened.

also, from news reports to promotion ofactivities, tv programs can introduce, in a variety of angles, the details ofthe culture. the clearer understanding people have on it, the more concern theywill pay. supervised and tested by the public through the reports on television, cultures will be developed more promisingly. with more cultures being shown ontv, comparison and contrast is done among people, which forces the culture toretain its essence to maintain identity and discard its dregs to attractcontinual attention. besides, to spread further and influence more around theworld, the culture will be better developed in the right direction.

admittedly, the broadcasting of tv programs will surely bring aboutcompetition among cultures and even lead to conflicts. however, it is just thiskind of atmosphere that is helpful for the cultures to develop further.

afterall, in this fast changing world, there is no reason to allow those that cannotstand competition or cannot adapt to the trend of society to continue theirinfluence on people.

to sum up, television has positive impact on culturaldevelopment. with a clear understanding of this and proper measures taken inguidance, cultures will enjoy unprecedented prosperity than ever.

雅思作文范文篇7

this line chart shows the changes in the proportion of the elderly people in three countries from 1940 till today. moreover, it offers predictions for a period to 2040.

during the three score years, the usa generally outweighed sweden in terms of the proportion of those aged 65 and over. but the gaps between have never been remarkable. in stark contrast, sweden strikingly eclipsed japan in this aspect evidenced by the fact that in 1940 the proportion for the usa was about 9%, clearly higher than 5% for japan.

whereas japan experienced declines from 5% to 3% , both sweden and the usa climbed. put it in detail, by the year 1983, the figures have peaked at 15% and 13% in the usa and sweden respectively. noticeably, in 1997 the proportion in the usa was equal to that in sweden.

according to the forecast, from now on, all of the three countries will skyrocket although exceptions might happen. however, by 2040 the proportion will have peaked at 27%, 25%, and 23% in japan, sweden, and the usa respectively.

in sum, the three countries are different in the field under study.
